Makeup Tip #27 - Facing Your Resolutions

Happy New Year!

Now that 2013 is here, I am sure you have already made your New Year’s Resolutions.  I happen to have a few ways to incorporate skin care and makeup tips into your new resolutions too!

Are you are headed to the gym this year?  Make sure your gym bag has a skin care kit in it.
  • To make packing light, look for pre-loaded facial cloths to clean your face after your workout.
  • You may also want a toner after your workout to tighten pores and don't forget the moisturizer.
  • 2 in 1 products also take up less space.  A good example is a tinted moisturizer with sunscreen - it really combines 3 products into 1 easy step!
  • For more helpful skin care tips, please see Makeup Tip #1 - Skin Care is Where it Starts!

Are you making healthier food choices?  Eggs, salmon, nuts, berries & green tea are just a few skin pleasing foods to look for when shopping.
  • Don't forget to increase your water intake this year because your skin craves hydration - especially when trapped in heated room and exposed to dry, cold air.
  • Water is also good for your body.
Are you organizing your home & office?  Don’t forget to organize your bathroom makeup drawer and makeup bag(s).
  • If you are in the mood to purge, now is the time to discard old makeup & CLEAN your makeup brushes!
  • Mascara should be replaced every 3 months, so start a new tradition by opening a new mascara in January.  In fact, you should create a calendar to purchase a new mascara in April, July, October and next January!

While you are replacing your mascara, give yourself a new makeover look for the new year!  We all get into our morning ruts, so treat yourself to something new.
  • A great place to start with your new look is your eye makeup.  Choose colors that will really help your eyes sparkle by selecting colors opposite of your natural eye color on a color wheel.
  • Lipstick is also a fun and easy way to change up your makeup look too!

Do you need accountability & motivation?  There is strength in numbers!
  • Ask a few of your closest and honest friends to be your accountability partners.
  • Plan monthly or quarterly events to celebrate your hard work and consistency - a few fun ideas are makeup parties or brush clinics!
