Houston Memorial Area Real June Wedding

Houston Bridal Makeup _ Lawrence Elizabeth Knox Photography _ Houston Weddings _ Houston Brides _ Houston Racquet Club

This lovely bridal client of mine is about to celebrate her one year anniversary and I have to celebrate with her by sharing her lovely wedding with you.  All of the photos featured here were courtesy of Lawrence Elizabeth Knox.

The pre-wedding preparations and photos, as well as the wedding reception, took place at the Houston Racquet Club in Houston, TX.

I rarely get to stay for the wedding festivities and I am so thankful to Lawrence Elizabeth Knox for sharing the wedding day's photos with me.  I love seeing how makeup changes from indoor to outdoor lighting and I also love seeing how the makeup wore throughout the day and night.  I hope you enjoy reviewing Ellen's wedding as much I have.  Be sure to click on the links to all of her vendors.

I met Ellen through Meagan Malone, the hairstylist who did a majority of the hairstyling for this wedding too.

Initially, we were supposed to do wedding preparations downstairs in the HRC, but we were blessed with a spacious room filled with natural light - perfect for makeup application AND for all of the things a bride and her bridal party have with them!

I always ask my clients if they will be taking first look photos because it
determines how much time we actually have for beauty preparations.

Flight Attendant Appreciation Day is May 31

Most people see flight attendants (aka FAs) as the hosts and food servers, but they are actually the first responders in the sky.

May 31 is Flight Attendant Appreciation Day and I know so many FAs would appreciate a little love.

Due to this "pandemic,"  many flight attendants have been working to help people get to their destinations safely. Many flights were humanitarian flights, getting university students reunited with family members or bringing expats home.

Some FAs have been grounded at home, and those who have been working have seen reduced hours because of fewer flights.  They also have to deal with stressed travelers who are not used to the very limited, or non-existent, services provided on flights.  Many FAs have been worried about their health, and the health of their loved ones while flying.

If you want to brighten a FAs day when you travel on the 31st, here are a few ideas:
  • Individually wrapped chocolates are usually appreciated
  • A cute tin of mints is nice
  • A small bottle of hand sanitizer will put an instant smile on a FA's face these days
  • A few dollars on a gift card to Starbucks is always a treat
If you want to show a FA you know well some love, here are some good ideas:
  • A Fly Girl Box - a gift box for girls who travel!
  • Ruby Slippers - because I think every girl needs a pair!
  • Custom luggage tags - Etsy has so many to choose from!
And to all my fellow flight attendants, "THANK YOU!"

Of course flight attendant love to be pampered and I could treat a special flight attendant in your life to a makeup refresh appointment!

Olde Dobbin Station Real Wedding

Natural Wedding Makeup _Makeup by Keri Ann_Olde Dobbin Station_Mr and Mrs Archer Photography

The first #WeddingWednesday post of 2020 deserves a blog post of its own!

This gorgeous wedding took place at Olde Dobbin Station in Montgomery, TX in June of 2019, but I am just now getting around to combining the photos into a blog feature.

ALL of the photos of this beautiful wedding featured here were captured by Mr and Mrs. Archer Photography and I am using these photos with their permission to share with you.  I really did try to condense my favorites, but I wanted to feature the lovely venue and details from this fun wedding.

These behind the scenes photos were captured in the elegant bridal suite at Olde Dobbin Station.

However, to get such a large group of gorgeous gals' hair and makeup done in time, we had to begin beauty preparations hours before the bridal party went to the venue.  The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel had an amazing Presidential Suite and it gave everyone ample room to congregate, work, eat, organize and socialize while making memories.

What You Need to Know Before Purchasing Cosmetic Gift Set

Before purchasing that shiny new cosmetic set, STOP and LOOK

Makeup gift sets are perfect for gift giving and a great way to try new products or replenish your stash of beauty essentials.

BUT before you purchase a set for your favorite makeup enthusiast, STOP and LOOK for:

1) Quantity vs quality - many gift sets, especially those packaged for the holiday, will have lots of filler and may not be that exciting once opened. Always compare the content listing with the actual products inside the set.

2) Weight/volume of products - smaller travel sizes might end up costing more than full size  products. If small sizes are not needed, your full size gift may the better gift selection.

3) Where the cosmetics are made - you do not want imitation or suspicious products. Did you know that many cosmetic products sold on-line are imitation products? The best way to verify your cosmetics are authentic, are to purchase directly from the cosmetic brand website or a trusted brand retailer.

4) Price - if it is too good to be true, it usually is. Ask yourself why and review this list.

A few months back, I felt like I NEEDED some new lipstick. I was in one of the fun discount stores that clearance name brand items, when I thought I found a "steal of a deal" lip set and made an impulse purchase. Well, as soon as I got home, buyer's remorse set in, when I turned over the package.

In store, I ignored the too low of a price on the tag and then I didn't even inspect where the product was made BEFORE purchase!

Don't make the same impetuous mistake, especially if you are giving the gift of cosmetics or skin care!

I would love to know what your favorite gift sets are!

Pay special attention to where cosmetics and skin care are manufactured!

Part 2 'Til Death Do Us Part Styled Halloween Photo Shoot

Halloween Inspired Wedding Makeup _ Red Weddings_On location Makeup _
Halloween inspired wedding makeup
These are the 2nd set of photos from our “Til Death Do Us Part” Halloween styled wedding shoot.

Our beautiful model, Madelyn,  fit perfectly into our our spooky vintage wedding dress provided by Stages Great Events.

Madelyn has beautiful large hazel eye and in order to bring out more brown/gold tones in her eye color, I opted for a blend of gold, red (yes, I said red) and brown shadows.

As with all of my clients, I really want the natural beauty of the client to show rather than the makeup.  I did line the waterline with black liner, but to keep it from overpowering her eyes, I kept the line thin to the waterline.

I even smoked out the bottom eyelid corners with some of the red shadow.  I never get to play with red shadow and I didn’t want the red to be overpowering, but I am so in love with the way the colors blended and looked.  I did apply some dramatic false lashes to her eyes as the finishing touch.

I applied bronzer in the hollow of her cheeks and barely tinted the cheeks with some red cheek color.  I did not want to create flushed cheeks, but I chose to subtly apple a red tint to blend the total look together.

Her lips were lined with a neutral lip pencil, followed by a mixture of red, black and deep rust lip colors.

Part 1 'Til Death Do Us Part Styled Halloween Photo Shoot

Fun Makeup_Houston Makeup Artist
Halloween Styled Shoot Part 1 Makeup by Keri Ann

In September I was asked to participate in a Halloween Styled, "'Til Death Do Us Part" Theme photo shoot at Windveil Manor in Cypress, TX.  Windveil Manor was a perfect backdrop for this photo shoot!

Styled shoots always help inspire my creativity.  Since most of my clients are very natural makeup clients, I jumped at the opportunity to play with darker and much more dramatic colors.  I realize these looks featured in this post aren't for everyone, but it is fun to play with color!

This is just the first of 2 posts from that styled shoot and this post features our beautiful blonde model, Taryn.  Taryn has stunning eyes and to help enhance her natural green color, I chose to use smoky plum hughes.  Her skin is already fair, so I just used foundation and powder to match her natural skin tone and applied translucent powder in the lightest shade possible to give her a porcelain look.

There was no need to apply additional lashes, as Taryn already had professional lash extensions on.

I used bronzer to accentuate the hollows of Taryn's cheeks.  Even though I normally opt for more cheek color on the apples of the cheeks, I didn't feel as if a "rosy glow" would fit the theme of the shoot.

I also applied deep plum/black matte lipstick shades to her lips and accentuated the lips by applying a grape colored gloss on top, as her lips needed hydrating.

The result was definitely a look Taryn never wears, but as you can see from the photos below, they worked very well with the style of our theme.

Taryn is a very sweet lady in person, but she was able to give the camera some somber attitude at times!  To find out more about Taryn, you can visit her blog by clicking here.

Houston Racquet Club Bridal Portraits

This is my real bridal client, Ellen.

When Ellen's mom shared the sneak peek bridal photo with me, I had to reach out to her photographer, Lawrence Elizabeth, to ask to see more photos, as my first thought was this photo looks just the bridal portrait of a royal princess!

Once I saw the full gallery of bridal photos taken at the Houston Racquet Club, I asked permission from Lawrence Elizabeth Photography, to share them with you!

The makeup was done by me, Makeup by Keri Ann, and the bride's hair was styled by the very talented Meagan Malone.

Enjoy the beauty of my bridal client, the photography, and the scenic background!
